International Trade & Investment

by Midlands Engine Newsroom
We want to work with the region’s businesses and international partners to raise awareness of the Midlands Engine and develop new areas for collaboration to secure maximum benefits for the region.

We will work together with private sector partners and the Department for International Trade (DIT) to showcase the Midlands Engine Investment Portfolio.

In 2017, we successfully undertook our first collective promotion of the Midlands at MIPIM, an international property event in Cannes, France.  We will continue our ambitious schedule of overseas investment missions to connect business with investment opportunities – you can find out more about the up and coming missions here

We will also work together to increase foreign direct investment (FDI), boost our international presence and develop a combined offer at a scale that is attractive to major investors.

The creation of a new Midlands Foreign Investment Hub, based in Birmingham, is now successfully driving inward investment in key sectors, supporting regeneration projects across the region.

Funding for SMEs

The Midlands Engine Investment Fund (MEIF) provides over £250million of investment to boost small and medium business (SME) growth in the Midlands, with access to small business loans, equity and debt finance.

Working with the region’s nine Local Enterprise Partnerships, fund managers, and the business community, the new funding will broaden the funding options and opportunities available to Midlands businesses. Find out more
