The Midlands Health and Life Science Symposium, the first event of its kind, will celebrate research strength and clinical expertise within our region when it takes place this November.
Researchers, clinicians and industry are invited to the free event on 24 November at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham which will showcase keynote speakers representing national health bodies and regional specialist health expertise.
Delivered by Midlands Engine Health and MI Health, the event will bring together academic, business and clinical experts, alongside civic and regional leaders from the Midlands and beyond to explore how excellence can be harnessed to address global healthcare challenges for increased wellbeing and productivity.
Having delivered 99 COVID-19 research programmes in 2020 alone, which shaped how the UK reacted and continues to recover from the pandemic, Health partners across our region are now focussed on collaborating with key stakeholders to support the levelling-up agenda and tackle health inequalities.
Professor Pauline Walsh, Convenor for MI Health and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Health & Wellbeing) and Executive Dean for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Keele University said:

This in-person event will highlight what the region has to offer and explore our excellence can be harnessed to position the UK at the forefront of the international Health and Life Science sector.

Special guests will take part in a panel discussion about the place agenda and there will be several workshop sessions around diagnostics, health inequalities, inward investment, immunology and flow cytometry, medical technologies, patient and public involvement and engagement and regulatory science.
