The Midlands Engine Economic Observatory (Observatory) has today published the 4th Edition of its Covid-19 economic impact monitor.
This is a fortnightly report produced by Observatory partners to draw together data and intelligence on how the Covid-19 pandemic is affecting our region’s economy.
In the latest edition covers:
- The National Business Impact of Coronavirus Survey demonstrating how trading of our companies across the Midlands has been affected
- NESTA review of R&D expenditure by region which shows our region performs strongly in terms of the level of private sector investment R&D but is not attracting the equivalent levels of public sector R&D spend versus other regions
- The impact of schools closures on educational performance (impacting disproportionately on those from deprived households)
- A breakdown of how resilient local economies are likely to be regarding the impact of Covid 19 by Local Authority area
